The workshop is structured around current pedagogy in backwards course design, scaffolded assignments, and student-centered class planning, which can be applied to the development of any course. Group discussions will focus on developing critical costume methodologies, envisioning costume history with a global perspective, and other ways that costume pedagogy needs to adapt to a more inclusive, contemporary framework that meets the needs of current students, in both content and method. Teaching is harder in isolation. Camaraderie, deadlines, homework, and accountability partners and turn a tedious summer burden into a joyful place to reinvest in your own teaching goals outside of the stress of the semester.
